Rob, Brent and I decided to adventure into the Salmonberry River area of the Tillamook State Forest to explore what was once a bustling train corridor linking the Port of Tillamook the Portland. Today, stepping onto the tracks is a bit like stepping into a post-apocalyptic world. The ensuing hike winds what was once a train track and is now a mere remnant of previous construction and damp tunnels, rusted relics of the past.
Judging by the state of the tracks, a few more years of harsh winters and rushing river will wipe much more of this relic from existence leaving the sights to the memory of those that had previously explored.
